Organiser Refund Policy Requirements
Summary — Plain English
1. Stating Your Refund Policy
Every event organiser must clearly state their refund policy before ticket checkout. The policy must describe the circumstances under which refunds will or will not be issued, and within what timeframe. Ambiguous or absent refund policies are not permitted.
2. Cancelled Events
If an event is cancelled by the organiser, all ticket buyers must be offered a full refund of the face value of the ticket. Organisers must process these refunds within 14 calendar days of the cancellation. Platform fees charged to the organiser are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation caused by the organiser.
3. Postponed Events
If an event is postponed, organisers must notify all ticket buyers promptly and either honour the original tickets for the new date or offer a full refund. Buyers who cannot attend the new date must be offered a refund.
4. Refund Processing Timelines
Refunds must be processed within 14 calendar days of the refund request being approved. Refunds are returned to the original payment method. Delays beyond this timeframe may result in MyChurch.Events processing the refund directly and recovering the amount from the organiser.
5. Partial Refunds
Organisers may offer partial refunds at their discretion, provided this is clearly stated in their refund policy before checkout.
6. Non-Refundable Fees
Booking fees charged to the buyer at checkout may be designated as non-refundable, provided this is clearly disclosed before purchase. Platform fees paid by the organiser are generally non-refundable.
7. Free Events
Refunds are not applicable to free ticket bookings. However, if a free event is cancelled, organisers are encouraged to notify attendees promptly.
8. Duplicate Purchases
Where a buyer accidentally purchases duplicate tickets for the same event, organisers are encouraged to offer a refund for the duplicate tickets as a matter of good practice.
9. Buyer Error
Refund policy in cases of buyer error (e.g. purchasing for the wrong date or wrong event) is at the organiser's discretion, provided it is stated in the refund policy.
10. MyChurch.Events' Right to Intervene
MyChurch.Events reserves the right to issue refunds directly to buyers and to recover funds from organisers where an organiser fails to honour a valid refund entitlement, fails to cancel an event, or where we determine that a refund is required to protect the buyer or the integrity of the Platform.
11. Refund Policy Examples
Flexible Policy
Full refund up to [X] days before the event. No refunds after that point unless the event is cancelled.

Full refund up to [X] days before the event. 50% refund between [X] and [Y] days. No refund within [Y] days of the event unless cancelled.
Strict Policy
No refunds unless the event is cancelled or postponed.
Custom Policy
Organisers may write a custom refund policy, provided it complies with these requirements and is clearly presented before checkout.
